Fostering Change: Navigating Eclipses, Nursing, and New Beginnings!

How are you navigating the remnants of the Full Moon Eclipse and the intensity of Eclipse Season? I hope you found last week’s blog on the eclipse helpful. Only 2 people requested the journal prompts, so I will likely phase those out after the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8.

I don’t take the lack of interest personally. With the Sun, Mercury, Chiron, the North Node, and Eris all in the fire sign of Aries right now, people are more in the mood to DO rather than reflect and act before thinking. That energy may shift when Mercury stations retrograde on April 1 (not an April Fool’s joke). Ballsy communications will more than likely require reflection and an apology.

3 stuffed frogs hear, see, speak no evil

Whatever they say, don’t take it personally.

As you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube, I am shaking things up creatively by incorporating (once again) more of my passions for nursing, nature, and health freedom into the content I share and the ways I serve. I know that’s a disappointment for some of you who only want the astrology and are looking for Pam Gregory 2.0, but I gotta listen to my Sun-Moon-Mercury triple conjunction on the world point in Cancer in the 9th house, which says nursing/ nurturing/ mothering/ nature + astrology/ spirituality/ teaching + voice/ communication/ alchemy = my not-so-secret sauce to bring to the world.

This purposeful shift isn’t about getting my astrological jollies. To give you an idea about why my passions for nature, health freedom, and nurses are bubbling over the surface into my astrology work, burnout rates for nurses currently range from 20-60% depending on the area of nursing, with over half of nurses considering leaving the profession altogether. Those are unacceptable and unnecessary numbers. We can move the needle, but it’s going to take radical, courageous change by all of us.

Trust me, I get it. Personally, I “burned out” at the end of 2020 and left what had been my “dream job” before COVID because we weren’t allowed to talk about alternatives and prevention. It was hell watching people get sick and being told to sit on my hands.

It's not much better for other disciplines in healthcare. Studies suggest that approximately 40-50% of physicians experience burnout, characterized by physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion; depersonalization; and a reduced sense of accomplishment. According to these same studies, physicians spend twice as long doing paperwork, emails, and documentation as they see actual patients.

We have all paid for the costs of burnout – upwards of $55,000 per nurse for the facility that loses the nurse, and a far greater, immeasurable cost to the nurse herself – through medical bills far outpacing inflation, the high cost of insurance premiums and deductibles, and limited access to care.

I don’t have to tell you who suffers from the dysfunction and burnout in healthcare: patients, families, practitioners, mothers, fathers, old, young, white, brown, black... Mainstream can try to bury or gaslight away the problems, but we’ve reached a tipping point.

On the other hand, the alternatives are exciting!

Each and every one of us holds the keys to creating solutions. However, we must be willing to speak our truth with courage and sovereignty, whether we are consumers, healthcare practitioners, or both.

Over the next few months, you’ll continue to see a shift in the content, expertise, services, and wisdom I share. Of course, you don’t have to stay on my mailing list or read my blogs if it no longer feels aligned. However, I hope you’ll stick with me and share this new content and my Instagram account with your favorite nurses and practitioners. (Click the Instagram icon below to navigate to my Instagram profile.)

It’s time for us to start using our voices the way the Divine intended – standing in our power, for truth and sovereignty, and with a dash of loving humor for those moments when we simply can’t take it anymore.

Thank you for being an integral part of this wild ride with me.

All my love,

Jennifer 🌹
